It rained all night last night, and into the morning, so I didn't go down to the fairgrounds until after lunch. The ground is so wet that parking is now divided into small car, large car, and 4 wheel drive sections! Hubby had left me the Blazer so I got to park in the muddiest part of the lot.

I walked into the grounds just in time for the skillet toss, then headed for the pulling shed, where I found ox pulling still in progress. I slipped around to the back side of the pulling shed for photography away from the crowded bleachers in one corner. Soon the skies opened up again! I was barely under the roof of the shed; water falling from the eaves puddled behind my feet, and the backs of my legs were soaked from splashing.

Thankfully, the rain stopped about the time the pulling ended. I headed up to the main part of the fairgrounds again for a snack, and then the caber toss. Light rain started to fall, causing cancellation of the racing pigs, so I headed for home. The 4-wheel drive on the Blazer did its job.

To get home I only have to turn once, from Route 17 to Hallock Road, which becomes Maple Street in town. I was about a mile from Route 17 when I slowed down because there was a big truck stopped-- and just beyond it, water was gushing across the road. Have you ever seen "funniest home videos" of people breaking their above-ground pools? That fast rush of water was what this looked like-- only very muddy, and continuous. Two cars came through towards me, on the shallower side of the road, so I went through. I wish I had stopped to take pics, but at the time I felt like I might be in the way, even on a relatively quiet back road. Maybe I was just too shocked-- I've never seen anything like that!
