LJ brain trust

Okay, there's a news item in horsie news circles about the birth of a clone of a famous jumper.... can someone explain to me why they don't look alike? Dad's a pale grey (white), colt is a chestnut with a blaze and sock?

If it helps, grey's pretty uncommon, probably recessive; chestnut's very common. But if they're genetically identical, does that matter?

I'm seriously wondering if it's a pic of the wrong foal-- he looks very like another jumper cloned by the same company.
