Kid and I headed out to the state park today to swim. On the way there, I impulsively turned down a side road that runs through a marsh, good birdwatching. Commented to the kid that it was probably pointless at that time of day-- and then turned my head and saw an unfamiliar heron-type bird about 20 feet away. Black crowned night heron!





This morning as I played I kept admiring the flowers with the stained glass window behind, so I attempted to capture the view.
