Coffeehouse!
Oct. 1st, 2018 08:45 pmI've been trying to organize some kind of talent show/open mic at my church almost since I arrived and discovered lots of interesting talent; I repeatedly offered to do something as a fundraiser for various causes, and got basically no response. I also have been begging for some musical upgrade-- improvement to the pipe organ, or a newer, better piano. Last spring the two ideas suddenly meshed-- Coffeehouse fundraiser for a piano fund!-- and everyone jumped on board. After lots and LOTS of planning, last night was the event! It was a smashing success, and we raised a nice starting sum for the Piano Fund.
I had a local semipro group open; and rather than ask anyone else to have the task of following them, I took that spot myself-- did two comic songs.

My young Dylan rocked out playing Axel F.

Young Jacob suffered from stage fright but pulled himself together and played well.

My husband recited a favorite poem. Daughter performed an ASL musical interpretation; I have video but no still pics.

Dan is my friend and guitar teacher, an amazing jazz guitarist, and a professor of materials physics. Many other wonderful acts, but these were my favorites!
