Canada geese swimming away from my backyard.





I've been watching for the ospreys to return to the Basin Harbor Road area, because the branch on which they've nested for years fell this winter. Ospreys return to the same site year after year. Here's the first one to return, with a nice chunk of fish for dinner, sitting in the remaining portion of the nest tree. I'm curious to see whether they'll rebuild, and whether any other pair will try to nest nearby as territory boundaries may be disturbed. This pair has raised 5 chicks in the past two years; any of those might try to nest nearby.
