Lovely blue heron getting its feathers ruffled in the wind.

More of the heron.

I went to drive one of my favorite routes, across a causeway near Lake Champlain, and was blocked by high water. Looks to me like the lake is at least a foot higher than usual even for this time of year.

A pair of buffleheads.

Last year a lone male osprey sat on this platform all summer, without attempting to build a nest. This year there's a pair (I saw both, just didn't get pics), and they're definitely nesting. Yay!
