Last night my computer crashed very thoroughly... had to reboot twice, including the Mac magic “rebuild desktop” thing, before I could get things working again. (Note to self: 5 applications running simultaneously is at least one too many.) Then all seemed okay, except that my Netscape address book had disappeared. I wasn’t worried, because I figured another “rebuild desktop” would probably take care of it; and in any case Netscape 6 has this neato “Collected Addresses” file where it stores the sender’s addresses of all incoming mail, so I could probably get back nearly everything easily.

This morning I popped into Netscape to send some mail, and the address book is back... in reverse alphabetical order! And no, there’s no spot to click to reverse order. Weird.

In other news, my ankle definitely needs a rest after the organ-playing marathon on Sunday, so I’ve chosen stuff I know well for this week, and am taking the day off from practice. I’ll clean the house, visit a library or two, catch up on mail, stuff like that. I do have two piano pieces I should look at today. Just one piano kiddie to teach today.. which means I can be home in time for dinner.... which means I need to plan a menu and shop... not such a lazy day after all!

Made it to all three libraries and a couple of other errands, but then my ankle strength and blood sugar wiped out pretty much simultaneously, so I took one of my newly checked out magazines into Burger King with me and munched. By the time I headed home, I had the beginnings of a migraine (whether from the blood sugar crash, the advancing weather front or both, I don’t know). Driving 25 minutes each way in bright light for one piano lesson just doesn’t cut it, so I called and cancelled. And the one errand I didn’t get to was the grocery, so dinner will be out, hopefully post-migraine.

Life is what happens when you have other plans, right?

Yesterday’s trip out to the stable was even more fun than usual. The kidlet’s trainer is teaching her one of the new methods of horse training, somewhat like what Monty Roberts and John Lyons do, if those names ring any bells (specifically, Clinton Anderson’s method). Kidlet has done a lot of work with Whisper on a longe line (long rope); yesterday was her first try at working in a round pen with Whisper loose.
Detailed horse stuff back here. )
