Fun walk this morning. Lots of herons. I saw a kingfisher make a catch and fly off with a fish in its mouth. Kidlet watched a squirrel run along a branch knocking nuts off and then go down to the ground to gather them. We saw a young raccoon hunting in broad daylight, and I got pictures to share with my tutoring kids today. I'll be sharing photos here as soon as I understand more about editing them, really!

I promised [livejournal.com profile] silkensteel these recipes a few days ago; thought some of the rest of you might enjoy as well. They're bread machine recipes, but could be easily adapted to making by hand.

Honey Corn Bread:
1 egg plus water to make 1 cup
1/3 cup honey
3 TBS butter
3 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp salt
1 1/4 tsp bread machine yeast

Three Seed Bread
3/4 cup water
2 1/4 cups flour
1 TBS sugar
1 tsp salt
2 TBS butter
1 tsp dill seed
1 tsp caraway seed
1 tsp celery seed
3/4 tsp yeast

Add the seeds as you would raisins-- either at the mid-cycle beep, or put them in the edges/corners of the mixing bowl so they don't get pulverized.
