I don't think the government should be sanctioning ANY marriage... but whatever form of recognition they give to adults who are committed to each other should be available to ANY adults who choose to commit to each other, whether that's het couples, gay couples, or groups (though there are some complications to iron out where groups are concerned).
Marriage IS sacred.... so it's not government business. And I believe my church should be open to marrying gay couples. United Methodists are not Biblical literalists: we allow women to speak in church, to teach men, we even ordain women, we accept divorce and provide a supportive environment for divorced people, we reject slavery.... so "the Bible says it's bad" is not a valid reason for discrimination.
