At least there's no smoke this time....
May. 27th, 2004 01:07 pmThe church organ died this morning. When I turned it on, the speakers popped loudly, and then gave a 60 cycle hum. That's the only noise it makes, though the pistons work; the transposer light is on even though the transposer is in the off position.
We've called the repairman, and I've arranged practice time at another church. Thankfully I was already planning all piano music for this week-- under protest, but it turns out to be a good thing.
(As for the smoke.. I have literally caught three different organs on fire in the past-- one dust fire and two burned-out motors.) Edit: Four. I forgot about catching this organ on fire a month after I started the job.
