Question for my Jewish friends...
Apr. 9th, 2005 11:13 pmSomehow, in my class on Monday, the question of how Jews understand death and whether there's an afterlife came up. I try to follow up on such questions even when they're tangential, so....
If you're Jewish, please share as much as you are comfortable sharing about both your variety of Judaism's position on death and afterlife, and your own. I'm as interested in "person on the street" responses as in the 'official' answers.
If you're not Jewish, you're welcome to ask questions of your own, and/or discuss posted answers... but please DON'T give me what you believe is "the Jewish answer." I have quite a number of Jewish LJ friends to do that for me. Thanks!
On a much lighter note... I've been rather curious about Sabbath observance lately. I have a pretty good handle on food preparation for the Sabbath, I think, thanks to those of you who frequently share your preparations... but what do you do about cleanup? How much can you do, and how much is postponed?
