Apr. 28th, 2005 10:19 pmI had a wonderful walk tonight. It seemed like all the park's woodpeckers were out celebrating their long-lost cousin. Two kingfishers led me along the river bank. There's a black squirrel settling into territory beside the pond. The younger owl fledgling is still in sight, but has moved about 50 yards to a new tree, so I think he'll be gone soon. At the moment he's still yelling, "Mom, I'm hungry!" at sunset. Finally saw the first heron of the year in the river channel. Capped things off with a spectacular sunset, and two deer grazing in the baseball field. Didn't get pics of all of the above, but here are two:
