Flexibility
Dec. 23rd, 2008 08:57 pmSo, today was pretty tightly planned, but the best laid plans etc. etc.
Actually the first change was my own choice. I have been totally hating my hair lately, and despairing at visiting my family with ugly hair, but my schedules and potential hair appointments didn't mesh. When I woke up early today, I decided to leave early and peek into my favorite walk-in place one more time-- and there was only one person waiting! So I have cute new haircut!
Headed for the church, a few minutes late, and met with my trumpeter. We ran through what we needed, though he wasn't feeling very well... and then suddenly he was REALLY not feeling well, and I was hovering to make sure I could catch both him and his trumpet. He has a cold, and blowing the trumpet messed with his inner ear pressure, and he ended up with a nasty attack of vertigo. He had walked to the church, so once he was feeling steadier I drove him home.
That set me behind on practice, didn't finish until rather late for lunch. Decided to try to run my errands on the fringe of the mall area, then catch lunch on the way home. Lines were too long to run 2 of the 3 errands. Headed for lunch-- and then my cell phone rang. Missed the call, but pulled over to check voice mail-- doctor cancelled my appointment. Wasn't worth heading back to the mall, so I got lunch and did a bit of shopping at isolated shops on the way home.
Kidlet arrived home from work bearing goodies-- half a gallon of (real) turkey gravy, half a gallon of fresh fruit salad, and 8 slices of cheesecake. Hubby and I can't eat cheesecake, so we kept two slices, and took six to the tack room at the stable. That made us popular! (Whisper continues to look good, though the wound isn't closed yet.)
Home to cook an amazingly healthy and delicious dinner-- crunchy tilapia filets, roasted veggies (potatoes, onion, green pepper, mushrooms), and more bruschetta. And now time to chill. We are watching an episode of West Wing, and the kid has fallen asleep-- this is becoming a pattern. In fact, it's the second time she's tried to watch this one!
