I love my woodpeckers, but feeding them is problematic. Their favorite food is suet cakes, but those attract starlings by the dozen; they're a nuisance, and easily knock off a cake per day, so it gets expensive. So... I picked up a feeder designed to keep them out. The bottom of this little house is wire screen, so that only birds who can hang upside down can get to the food. It's working! Chickadees, nuthatches and my darling woodpeckers like it, and I haven't had a starling at the feeders in a week.
