tendyl an apology. I was sure we were going to have to live in a dense suburb in the Albany area. Instead, today we found a house in one of those pockets that remains undeveloped as the city grows around it-- not rural, but SO much more open than what I expected.
It's unexpected in other ways, too. Not a conventional apartment-- it's the second floor of a 100 year old house. (If it were the first floor, or the whole house, I'd be dancing with joy.) It's in beautiful shape, new appliances, and the landlords are a charming Irish couple. They had no concerns at all about our cats, and it's far less expensive than the other option we had in mind. And we get half of a BIG garage, which may mean no storage unit, or only a small one. We can even have a little garden.
And it's about a mile from the Mohawk river, and a nice little park and a long bike trail along the river.
