An unexpected (short) journey
Dec. 22nd, 2020 04:20 pmI just pulled on boots to do a few outdoor things-- with over 2' of snow, stepping outside requires boots. I put my car, which hubby had been driving, in the garage-- it's very narrow, and if anyone scrapes up my car it should be me. Then I walked around the house to top off some bird feeders.
While out front I saw neighbor Steve outside with his son. Steve helped us with a Christmas project, so I walked down to thank him. We wanted to make Laura a felt design board, and needed a 4 x 8 sheet of building material; Steve is a builder/contractor so kindly picked up what we needed.
After chatting with Steve I turned towards home, and saw a really big truck that had fallen into the neighborhood trap. He had turned on intersection too soon, on what looked like a shortcut, and came to signs indicating a low bridge.. and then guessed wrong about which way to turn, and ended up on our street, which is a dead end. I hurried down to him, and asked him where he was trying to go, and he responded "right now I just want to get the hell out of here!" He was actually trying to back out onto the neighborhood main road. I pointed him towards the easier way out; a passing FedEx truck stopped and confirmed my directions, and he went on his way with relief.
