Church stuff
Aug. 6th, 2021 04:14 pmI haven't updated in six weeks, and wow, there's a lot. TL/DR is things are going great, because I haven't seen either Pastor or D in three weeks!
I had two weeks of vacation, then did two weeks with the usual team, but with them still being respectful of newly drawn lines. Then Pastor began an extended vacation; the second Sunday she was gone, D and family had a sudden need to be gone, and finally trained a pair of substitutes. Then I had two more weeks of vacation-- I'm in between those now. And then D and family will be gone for two more weeks, and Pastor for at least three.
Additional complications: two weeks ago our Admin's house flooded after a freak storm. Her husband and dog had to be rescued by first responders! They were very lucky to have little damage inside, just the flooring on the entire first floor; and foundation damage has been repaired. But their lot was nearly scoured bare. Admin clearly needed time off to cope, and that was granted; my daughter and I stepped in to do a lot of her tasks (daughter's in charge of church communications, I helped with worship details).
And then Pastor's brother fell and is seriously injured, and there are many many issues to deal with... and she asked for and has received leave for the rest of August. This morning there was an emergency meeting of the folk who really step up to deal with things (which has little to do with actual church titles)-- and I was part of it, my input was welcomed and respected. It really was quite amazing, and something I haven't felt in the past year.
