My music went far better this morning than I expected. The prelude is not great music, and I didn't play it especially well-- but it's decent stuff, and I was at least competent. Hymns went particularly well, postlude was light and fun and went well (except for one point where I got distracted by people sitting in the front of the church shouting at each other so they could hear over my music-- I was so tempted to stop abruptly!). The pastor is almost embarrassingly grateful when I cheerfully cooperate with his occasional changes to the service-- he must have dealt with someone terribly inflexible in the past.

I'm going to see Evelyn tomorrow. I knew I should, but was hesitating... so I asked a former choir member who no longer drives if she'd like a ride down. Mostly I need to give Evelyn a chance to either discuss her funeral plans with me, or tell me if she's asked my backup to do it. My feelings most certainly would not be hurt-- she needs to know that.

Walked today... past 350 miles now. Saw at least 2 herons, one adult, one juvenile. Finally got black squirrel pics but they're blurry-- it was so gloomy out that the automatic shutter speed was quite slow.

Just finished helping the kid carve four pumpkins.. fun. She comes up with really fun faces for them.
