Feb. 12th, 2004 08:47 pmI've mentioned my favorite Chinese place, Lee's, here before. It's truly strange... all the atmosphere of a slightly pretentious greasy spoon diner, complete with waitresses who call us "honey".... and truly wonderful food. My favorite is the mu shu chicken, with an entire ketchup-style squeeze bottle of plum sauce at the table.
Thursday's a slow night, so the owner was waiting tables himself as well as cooking. There was just one other couple in the restaurant, obviously also regulars. As they got up to leave, the man waved to the owner and said, "Good night, Bruce."
Thankfully, none of us had a mouthful of beverage when it sank in.
