My 2nd favorite way to escape for a day
Feb. 13th, 2004 09:44 pmAfter doing necessary stuff this morning (practice, grocery, load crockpot and bread machine, post office) I got on the interstate and headed north to Grand Rapids. Made it to the Big New Mall in time for lunch, then headed on to Malecki Music. Picked up three books of jazz and early rock for my most advanced piano student, and tw books of organ music for myself. Then I he aded a bit further north to the new Penzey's Spices store-- no more mail order! Cinnamon, cardamom, turkish seasoning, cocoa mix... yum. Back to the mall where I walked about 1 1/2 miles, then into the bookstore. Then home in time for fresh soup and bread with my family.
Serendipitous bonuses: While listening to WYCE, a really incredibly cool public radio station, I about wet myself listening to this song.
Also picked up a copy of this magazine at a bookstore.
During the drive I did some brainstorming, especially about a bizarre/fun church program. Tell me the truth.. if you saw a church advertising "The Gospel According to the Beatles," would you be at least tempted to go? (No, I'm not thinking of hard-sell evangelism with a gimmick; more of an evening of fun and music with just a touch of seriousness, maybe including addressing some of the reasons the Beatles didn't care for organized religion.)
