Monarch: The Sequel!

Complete with pics, this year! (plus some miscellaneous pics)
I went walking in the neighborhood today. At the far end of my walk, 1.3 miles from home, I found a clump of milkweed plants. (Older pic, they're not in bloom any more, but this is what they look like. The plants are over knee high, and like wet sunny spots, like ditches along country roads.)
I checked the underside of the plants, and found a monarch egg! So I got to walk all the way home carrying a sticky leaf. (If you want to hunt, you're looking for a single egg, like this, or a black and yellow striped caterpillar.)
No wonder all the cars at the stable always have pawprints on the hood!
Spotted this hawk (redtail, maybe a young one?) about 2 miles from home.
"Don't fence me in!"
