kayreA customer bought a used book from me on Amazon and paid for standard shipping, then emailed me asking me to ship it UPS second day. I sent back that "expedited shipping" costs an extra $2, which he could paypal to me. He did.
Arrived at the UPS shipping center today, and discovered that 2nd day would cost $25. Gulp. Asked about other methods, and learned that UPS ground could cost only $10-- and would arrive on the same day, because of the upcoming weekend! So I did that. Even with the extra $2, I'd only been paid $4.49 for shipping, but I figured I'd write off the rest as a learning experience. Went home, emailed the customer that I'd shipped via ground rather than 2nd day, explained why, and put it out of my mind.
Until I got a second Paypal notice, for an additional $5.50.
Yes, there are honest people out there.
