Downy woodpecker is a year-round resident, but so cute that I can't resist more pics.

There were probably 100 male redwinged blackbirds at the park today, all loudly staking out their territory.

Rusty blackbird-- looks like a grackle, but different call-- and he was claiming territory just as loudly as the redwings.

Some people here say the first returning goose is the real sign of spring, not the robin. These are the first I've seen this spring.
