Lots of fun visitors to the yard today. Early in the morning there were two red-breasted nuthatches; hadn't seen them for a while, guess the weird weather may have brought them back.

Around noon I looked out and saw a pileated woodpecker, very low on a tree near our flood waters. It's a male; note the red on the cheek.

A moment later a female flew up, and crowded the male out! No red on the cheek this time. The notch in the tree is a very old beaver chew.
