I felt a need to go play with my camera today, so we headed to Dead Creek. There's often a great blue heron right at the entrance.

These next pics aren't as gorgeous, but they were a thrill for me. I saw a bald eagle in the wild last winter, after reading reports and simply driving to the road where they were reported. This time, I was out walking and saw one flying. It landed in trees across the lake. When I got around to that side, I found a tiny trail out to the shore, and looked to my right-- and there he was, about 50 yards away!
