Several 'firsts' tonight. It's the first time I've consciously tried to take a news pic; I've already submitted this to the local newspaper.



The other end of that first pic-- a lovely old maple that fell during the intense thunderstorm we had this afternoon.



The homeowner saw me taking pics, and invited me out back to see the rest of the tree. That's when the other 'first' happened-- I described myself as a freelance photographer, rather than an amateur. After all, I've had three pics in the local papers so far!



I'm in love with this pic-- especially because it's a sunflower in my own garden.
