Mac folks-- thoughts please?

kayreKidlet's iBook G4 is ded... no, dedder than that. Definitely not worth repairing. She wants another Mac laptop. She could get a reconditioned G4 for around $500. We love our G4s, and we know about their issues and have coped with them successfully for a long time.
Other option is the entry level MacBook for about $1000. Shiny new, warranty, faster. Doesn't have DVD burner but if I'm reading correctly it does burn audio CDs?
Thoughts? Is it worth spending twice as much for the Air? She can afford it.

For some reason I was finding this on some sites labelled as the Air but it clearly isn't.
