Looks like the downy woodpeckers still trust me- this one came up while I was outside, about 5 feet away.





I had stepped out on the deck because I noticed that there was a goose in the back yard sitting very oddly, with wings partly spread. I suspected I knew why, and a moment later I saw that I was right.....



... she was sheltering babies under her wings!



At least 5 goslings, as it turns out.
