Today was Osprey Day, apparently. We walked at Fort Cassin Road, a stretch just over half a mile long. First we checked the nest platform, and saw an osprey on the nest.
From another vantage point we saw a new nest, and it too is occupied.
Kid spotted this osprey across the channel, snacking on a fish.
Finally, there's a pair rebuilding a nest very close to the road, along the causeway. I rather hope that fishermen this weekend scare these birds off-- there's an unoccupied platform nearby that would be much safer for them.
