Well, that's that.
Nov. 12th, 2009 09:01 pmI won't be returning to NFUMC (my Methodist church).
Pastor Kim asked me to stay after Bible study today to "talk about some things." We talked for more than an hour, with a third person present. It boils down to: she says people at the church perceive me as negative, critical and unfriendly, and can't recommend me to take the teacher training in the spring unless I change that.
She went on to say that I'd been "better lately", and that everything I said in Bible study today was "great", and then dragged up old festered issues that she'd never addressed before-- like my leaving Lobsterfest in August. She also said that ever since she came (2.5 years) I've seemed to think that I "was somehow entitled to the music director position."
I'm still deciding whether to dynamite the bridge behind me, but I'm already gone.
(Now I need to find a small group of some sort that's NOT at Lutheran-- Bible study, spirituality book club, whatever. Discussing my beliefs too freely at Lutheran could be a problem, I'm afraid. And I won't join there.)
