Pics: birds (and a cow)

Lifebird! As long as I've been in Vermont (4 years this week!) I've been looking for cattle egrets. It's become a joke that every time we drive past cows, I moan, "no cattle egrets." I did that a few times today, and then "no cattle egrets... just some seagulls.... STOP! Those aren't seagulls!" So I saw my first five cattle egrets finally.





A naturalist at the Harvest Festival at Shelburne Farm had a tiny saw whet owl today. Isn't it cute?

I wish Mom were still alive to see this one! She loved oels, and he (she?) is adorable!

Maybe it's something about being so far inland or so far north. Down here, almost any trip near the Gulf coast features several fields full of cattle and egrets co-existing.
