Remember my crazy flautist? Who had a horrific emotional meltdown last summer in which she screamed angrily at two other musicians and stomped out? Much to my surprise, she stayed around, and made peace to some degree. She continued to participate in choir and handbells irregularly, and behaved tolerably well, though there was definitely a sense of walking on eggshells. She also continued to communicate with me, and we had some pleasant exchanges, but she wanted a level of friendship that just wasn't possible without a lot of rebuilding.

Last week she let me know that she had bought a house, and needed her apartment key back from me (I took care of her cat occasionally when she traveled). When I gave the key to her, she returned the church key she had. A few days later she brought me a hymnal she had borrowed, and told me she wouldn't be coming back; and the next day she emailed the church office asking to be removed from all mailing lists.

It is, of course, a relief; and not a surprise, except that she is leaving without one last blast of violence. Her final message to me was that our church had been the right place for her for 10 months, but is no longer right for her. I hope she finds what she's looking for, though I'm afraid I find it unlikely.

Wow. I hope she finds peace and comfort in a new location.

This has very little to do with crazy flautists, but does have to do with music...
Donald's brother is cleaning house, including some family stuff. In amongst the things was a little book called Gospel Hymns published in 1887 by The John Church Co, Looks like lots of them were printed, so not rare. Just wondering if you had any interest in it. We would be MORE than glad to send it on to a good home.

I sent it off in the mail today. It is a pretty little book, quite worn. Hope you find something useful in it!!

I think I got a glimpse of the title page where someone with the last name Pentecost was mentioned, leading me to wonder if it was an early Pentecostal hymnal.
Enjoy!!
