I've mentioned before that my church hosts Family Promise, a program to help homeless families. Each church in our network provides dinner and sleeping space for the guest families for one week each quarter. (There is a Day House for after school and daytime on the weekends, and the program coordinates many avenues of help for the families; the rotating sleeping space helps avoid zoning issues, and gets churches very involved in helping.)

There were guests in church this morning, a mother with two small children. After worship she asked if we remembered them-- they were our very first Family Promise guests! They have been out of the program for more than a year, and have now moved close to us. And they want to help next time we host, to give back. :)

Nice! I'd bet that for most people you never hear how things worked out, so it's great to encounter a happy ending.

I think it's so wonderful that DPC has made opportunity for them at two ends.
