I posted this on FaceBook, in a music group: "Does anyone have Spanish language mnemonics for the treble and bass clef notes? "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge" doesn't work so well in a second language!"

Every single useful, relevant or supportive comment comes from a woman (3 women in all).

Every single comment from a man is either irrelevant or critical of my teaching approach-- even though all they know about the latter is what's above. The very first comment was another of those, since deleted by him, for a total of 6 men.

.

[first comment, from a man, informed me that Spanish-speaking countries use do-re-mi, not letter names]

Ike: We also use "Every Good Boy Deserves Favor" and the bass clef is Great Big Dogs Fight Animals; the spaces are FACE and All Cows Eat Grass.

Carol Scott But I need SPANISH.

Brian: We had 'Good Boys Deserve Favour Always' for the bass clef lines otherwise same as you.

Rebecca: Eso Gato Baila Demasiado Furiosamente

Curtis I teach in Miami. Every year I tell my LEP students they can get extra credit for coming up with one in Spanish. So far nothing.
BTW, Spanish speaking countries don't use letter names, so that's probably why you haven't found one yet.

Rebecca: AquĆ Corren Elefantes Gigantes

Rebecca : I'm not a native Spanish speaker... I know they're technically correct but you'll have to check with your students whether they sound natural enough to be useful!

Jim: Best to teach do re mi

Caroline: that's not what she's asking

Carol Scott: Jim what do you (think you) know about my student's situation that makes you say that?

Jim: Carol Scott I can't remember exactly how my assistant director teaches it to the childrens choir, I will ask on Saturday. I feel like if Spanish is the first language then Do Re Mi should be taught first since thats how it's taught in Spanish speaking countries, and other countries.

Carol Scott: Don't bother on my account. I am aware of the do-re-mi connection but I know my student's situation and chose what is best for her. I asked for something specific, not criticism of my teaching plan by people who have no clue what the situation is.

Jim: Then if you knew what was best for her, you wouldnt be here asking questions.

Carol Scott: Jim, Asking for a little help with Spanish phrases doesn't make me an incompetent music teacher; just one who is trying to help a very special student but isn't perfectly fluent in Spanish. Why do you feel such a need to criticize instead of helping or just being quiet?

Jim: you asked a question, I offered to help in a polite way. No one was criticizing you on here.

Carol Scott : Jim, "Best to teach do-re-mi" was at least an implied criticism, and doubling down on that repeatedly is not an attempt to help, it's an attempt to prove that you're right.

Caroline: I'll give it some thought while I do nothing in the containment zone these next few days/weeks, etc.

Simon: for bass clef:
Great Britain does f- all

Carol Scott: Maybe Jim needs that one; it's not in Spanish so I don't.

I think there should be a containment areas for men who have not yet acknowledged that they were brought to believe that they have Special Access to the Truths of the Universe and need therapy to live like decent human beings.
