One of my students loves jazz, and asked today what the blues scale is. I don't know it well enough to teach, so I set him an exercise while I did a quick web search, and then we watched a short video together.
The presenter was generally good, but floundered trying to explain the difference between a major third and minor third, finally saying that the minor third "sounds kind of minory." My student deadpanned "Wow, that's deep." (And after I paused, he correctly defined both kinds of thirds, and how they function in chords.)
Then we put little bits of post-it notes on the correct keys, and had fun improvising. (Two different keyboards, socially distanced.)
