1) My daughter's store manager was fired this morning. Daughter is a candidate for the position, though it's more common for the company to bring in someone from another store. Crossing my fingers for her.
2) Enough snow has melted that I was able to walk around my yard today. One section of my backyard seems to be a favorite deer restroom.
3) Still loving the hammered dulcimer. Spending about an hour a day on it. Still mastering note placement, which is very very different from keyboards or even guitar. I use electronic flashcards to pick a note, and find every iteration of that note (as many as 5 different E's, only one B flat); and major and minor chords for the pitch. Then I spend some time practicing chords in various different positions and inversions. Finally I try to work on two songs at a time- one video tutorial, and one that I try to arrange myself. And of course some time playing previous pieces for fun.
4) My high school biology teacher was terrible. I passed but have always felt like I missed out on something. I'm reading a high school biology textbook right now, and supplementing it with internet searches on whatever grabs my interest. I'm not by any means trying to master it, just to take some of the joy back, and it's working.

The dulcimer is so much fun! And you can pick up a song and move it to a different key while keeping (mostly) the same hammering patterns, for certain keys. Moving by a step is hard; moving by a fourth is straightforward. If you're playing with other people, or accompanying a singer, that can be useful.
