An amazing thing just happened

kayreI just played for a funeral-- my second already at the new church. Previous pastor and his wife were there, and for reasons of service flow they sat in the choir area. They are both very fine singers, and I had a great deal of fun leading/accompanying them.
One of the hymns was How Great Thou Art, and it's a bit of a pet peeve for me that people go booming right through the third verse, which is much more solemn than the rest. I switched to a softer setting and slowed just a little bit-- and they picked up on it and went with me, and then the congregation too! It really was a special moment.
