Because of bad weather, I "zoomed" into Ash Wednesday worship... so I shared some music on hammered dulcimer, beginning at 39 minutes. (also a brief piece at 6:49)
That was truly beautiful! And I love how the oft-repeated phrase of these last few years was handled so gently and deftly, "You're muted". Seriously I like him a lot. Want to watch the whole service.
You are of course welcome to watch as much as you like! I do like the relaxed atmosphere Kyle has generated; but with a guitar in his hands he flashes back to being a summer camp song leader, and does lots of things faster than I would. :)
Oh, that's so interesting! I thought it almost painfully slow. But part of it, to me, is that he's singing alone. With a choir one could use rubato and play with tempo...or sing it more like shape note.
I loved the meditative performance style on the first piece, so right for hammer dulcimer, and the effortless flowing performance of the walking music. Apart from enjoying being able to use the dulcimer in your work, and having it appreciated, I hope you're also feeling the deep satisfaction of having achieved such mastery! (I know there's lots to come, but you have achieved mastery where you are, and it's beautiful and impressive.)
