Life with cats

Yesterday my husband was working in person, so left the house very early. I got up moments after he left, and the cats were acting like they hadn't been fed so I fed them. Texted him and found out they'd talked me out of second breakfast.
Noticed after a while that Livvy wasn't doing any of her usual morning routine; thought she might be sleeping off the extra meal, or even feel a bit off. Laura and I went off on our first round of errands.
When we came back, still no sign of Livvy. This is WAY out of character so we started searching. The basement is usually off limits but Laura had been down there in the morning, so we each searched it, twice. Soon we were also searching outside, even though Livvy had been out of sight long before we opened a door. Laura left for another task; I escalated. Called the police non-emergency number and the two most prominent vets in the area. Put up a few lost-cat posters. Texted all the neighbors, and searched around their houses and in their garages.
Fretted through a long quiet evening, with Lilly clinging very close to me. At 3 a.m. hubby heard a meow, and found Livvy calling to get out of the basement. We have spent the morning recovering.
