Popped out to a favorite birding spot at sunset to check for eagles or ospreys. No big birds, but lovely sunset!





If there's anything I miss about my old churches, it's that at two of them I frequently got to take home unclaimed altar flowers. Lutheran does a good job of getting the flowers out to shut-ins and nursing homes, but occasionally there's a batch at the end of its life that ends up in the trash. Twice I've rescued the best of those from the trash, with permission; yesterday someone actually brought them to me. I threw out the spent flowers, and made this little arrangement of irises and another of carnations and daisies.

Very pretty sunset.

I love getting leftover flowers! Often Stagehands end up with flowers from some big banquet or party event. Those look lovely, and the irises still look very fresh.
