Here's my pretty heron pic for the day. Lots and lots of herons and egrets suddenly, already beginning their fall migration. They move very slowly-- fly for a day, settle down and fish for two or three days-- so they start early.

This fuzzier pic makes me happier, though. It's a juvenile black crowned night heron. Not a lifebird, but only my second ever, and my first juvenile. Saw the adult about 100 yards from this spot last summer.
