(no subject)

I’d be embarrassed to put my name in a byline above a first sentence like this: “When George Steinbrenner slipped David Wells a contract between the cleavage of two cheeseburgers at a Florida burger joint last Christmas, The Boss had no idea his pet pitcher would be hurling with the Yankees' season on the line this soon in October.”

Lazy Saturday

The kidlet has a church choir retreat.. left this morning at 9, comes home with us after church tomorrow. So what did hubby and I do with all this time to ourselves?

Well, first he slept in while I delivered her to church and did my practicing. Then we had a romantic lunch at Gyro King. Came home, did yard work, studied, watched Notre Dame slaughter Stanford (yay!!). Missed a few plays in the 4th quarter when a hawk swooped in to perch in our willow tree. The obliging fellow sat still long enough for me to get a long close-up look at him through binoculars before swooping on down into the ravine. Sharp-shinned hawk-- I’ve seen them before, but not at the house, so that was cool. Next, we were off to another delightful meal, this time at Steak and Shake. (We really do eat in nicer restaurants occasionally-- but we ate out last night too, and will eat out after church tomorrow, so we were feeling cheap). Now we’re sitting around watching Ohio State vs. Northwestern, and doing more reading and studying.

It’s been a lovely day.
