It was warm enough (a balmy 18F) to walk outside today. As I suspected, the river has iced over completely. It's amazing-- and now I can hardly wait to see and hear the ice break in the spring! This was finally enough to compel me to find a suitable notebook for a multiyear nature journal. Settled on a gigantic archive-quality spiral notebook; couldn't find a 365+ page bound book, and I hate writing on the backs of pages in a bound book. Once it comes I'll be using LJ to fill in what I can from last year (and even a few 2002 dates, like the first hummingbird arrivals). Fun!
Lots of animal tracks; pics tomorrow, I hope. I could hear a BIG woodpecker in the marsh, maybe the pileated, but never spotted him.
All this nature stuff is incredibly delightful... and being able to share it here is even more fun. Thank you for reading!
