Not invisible yet
Apr. 28th, 2021 02:10 pmMonday night I walked at our local nature place near sunset. As I returned to my car there was a cub scout pack also finishing, milling around before separating to their cars. As most of them left, 3 boys were playing with some rocks while two adults chatted, when one of the boys shouted "there's a ring!"
They ran to get the adults, and it became clear that the adults weren't sure what to do since the nature center was closed and empty. So I cut in, commented that I walked there frequently and could turn the ring in. They trusted me, and gestured for the boys to give it to me. The one who found it said, "it looks funny, I think it's a magic ring!" To humor him, I looked closely-- and was startled to see Elvish writing! It's a Tolkien One Ring. I said so aloud, and first boy said, does it do magic? I remarked as how it looked pretty damaged, but let's see if it makes me invisible, and put it on. Sadly, still visible, but he didn't seem very disappointed.
I have emailed a friend who works at the center, and meanwhile am guarding it carefully. :D
