The water level of Lake Champlain, and hence Otter Creek below the last waterfalls, has risen over decades, but is quite low right now due to drought. As a result, we're getting a glimpse of history. These planks and stones are remains of the Macdonough Shipyard.







This was probably the base of a swinging crane; I'm not sure it's as old as the other remains, though. I left the falls, old mill, and current hydroelectric plant in the background just for fun.



And some lovely tree roots to round things out-- a bit fuzzy in low light.

Very cool. I'm always intrigued by ruins, seeing what nature has allowed to remain and what has decayed away.
