Pics- quilt in process

I decided months ago that my next lap quilt would have a smaller pieced center section, and more elaborate borders than are my usual. I finished the center today, and found inspiration for the border just in time.

I began by sewing together some sets of strips. I don't often like strip-pieced quilts because they are boring, but using this technique will make an elaborate border come together quickly.

I cut the strips into pieces on the diagonal....

Next I'll slide them into a new position and sew them together. When I trim the excess green fabric, I'll have a strip of yellow diamonds for an elegant border! (These are just sitting in place, not yet sewn.)
