A lovely curl of shagbark hickory bark





A lovely wildflower known as trout lily, or sometimes dogtooth violet.



One of many lovely waterfalls along today's hike.



My first snake sighting of the year. I took this pic when it paused while swimming across the creek at my feet.



The woods were crisscrossed with old stone walls from a long-ago effort to raise sheep in the area.



Another wildflower, known as colt's-foot for the shape of the leaves, which appear later.
