Small banners I'm working on recently.
Laura and I wanted to make something together this summer, but what with other stresses, we never got going on it. It was my concept and raw design, so when she left I impulsively decided to make it in miniature (it's a size that would work as church paraments if my church wants it).
There are six ethnic or ethnic-inspired prints; separated by rays of almost-solid color fabrics (I almost never use actual solids). Over that I've laid a slightly sparkly white dove with an olive branch. It's not finished yet; I'll use stitching to make the olive branch stand out a bit better.

As I worked, it occurred to me that I could represent working together for peace better by taking the opposite approach. I made a pieced fabric from all six of the original prints. I felt like the eye still needed the 'solid' dividers, but they are very narrow this time.

I cut the dove out of the pieced fabric, and appliqued it on the sparkly white.
