They both went back to grazing, though they certainly paid attention to me.



Different deer, different day. The pose reminds me of medieval tapestries.



These three mushrooms were growing in a knothole about 15 feet off the ground.

Your deer are SO different than ours! Not only color, but that crouch of alertness. Our little blacktail deer usually put their head up in alarm, rocking back with their weight on their hindquarters, ready to run.

Actually their usual alert pose is that head-up bit; the deer in my pics are at a kind of half-alert, aware of me but not particularly worried. They are used to human passers-by, and I was being as non-threatening as possible. I was surprised that mama and child continued to graze and even moved closer to me, since I was already quite near them.
