Snow day, part two
Jan. 23rd, 2003 10:31 pmSo... after the happy news that the schools were closed, kidlet went back to bed for a few hours; I took my shower, and embroidered for a while. When the kid woke up, we had brunch, and then I took advantage of her inevitable burst of energy-- cleaned the living room, dining room and kitchen. Made walnut brittle (one must make sweet goodies on snow days, it’s a Cosmic Law). Cleaned out the freezer to make dinner-- didn’t stock up, so the pantry is a bit low. No danger of going hungry, but if I can’t shop tomorrow the meals may get a bit weird. Did laundry after dinner while hubby and kidlet reviewed her math.
Then we settled down for another snow day necessity-- games. Played a long version game of Monopoly, during which I totally demolished the other two. (Got Mediterranean and Baltic early.... then engineered a three-way trade in which I ended up with the cheapest set of property, but was the only person with cash to build houses and hotels). Kidlet was a great sport about it all.
Now we’re wrapping up the day by watching The Maltese Falcon, #23 on our list of 100 best movies. Not a bad day, all in all.. though I may get cabin fever if I can’t get out tomorrow!
